About Us

The UCL Institute of Education (IOE) has been ranked first in the world for education for three years in a row (QS World University Subject Ranking 2016) and first in the UK for research strength (REF 2014).

The Institute of Education was founded in 1902 and has established itself as a world-leading education institution. In December 2014, the IOE became a School of UCL and is now the UCL Institute of Education. As such, the IOE is now part of one of the world's leading multi-faculty institution ranked 7th in the world (QS World University Rankings 2016).

Located in the heart of central London, the IOE is a global hub of ideas and debate in education and related social sciences and has a true commitment to research and teaching excellence. Our world-renowned academic staff conduct research for governments, ministries, schools and universities, meaning that the Institute's expertise continually influences and shapes educational policy across the world.

The IOE is the number one choice for education professionals from around the world to develop themselves and their careers. We enjoy some of the highest employability ratings compared to all UK universities with 96% of our postgraduates in employment or further study six months after graduation.

Students interested in graduate-level education and related subjects can choose from one of our 60 renowned masters programmes or study a research degree at the UK's largest education Doctoral School. We offer four full-time undergraduate programmes.
