The American International School of Freetown was founded in 1986. It is a non-profit, private coeducational day school for students from preschool through grade 9.

The school is governed by a six member Board of Directors elected for two year terms.

AISF's elevated airy wooded site overlooks Freetown and the Atlantic Ocean. The main school building houses the expanded kindergarten to grade 8 classrooms, a library center, a computer lab, music and art rooms and the administrative offices.
