Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter
The mission of Heart of the Valley is to compassionately shelter the lost and surrendered pets of Gallatin and Madison Valleys in southwestern Montana, and to enhance the lives of people and companion animals through pet adoption and education.
We handle more than 2,500 cats and dogs every year. We have an open door policy and do not euthanize for space or length of time. Being an "open door" shelter means that we accept any lost, abandoned or surrendered dog or cat. Although many shelters across the country save less than half of the animals that reach their facilities, we find homes for more than 75 percent of the dogs and cats that enter our doors.
We also conduct community outreach events, offer education and pet training, and run a summer camp for children and pets. We offer volunteer opportunities for everyone, from youth through seniors and have three major fundraising events each year.
