About Us

Founded in 1974, Palm Valley Animal Society (PVAS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal welfare organization located in Edinburg, TX in the Rio Grande Valley. It has the only full-service, open-admission, animal intake facility in Hidalgo County, serving more than 30,000 animals and 750,000 residents annually. This year, PVAS has become a no-kill organization, defined as saving 90% or more of the animals that enter our care.

Our mission is to provide life-saving care, comfort, and compassion to animals in need by engaging our community’s community’s hearts, hands, and works to place all adoptable animals in loving homes through adoptions, foster care, or transfer to rescue partner groups.

PVAS has numerous programs and partnerships designed to help pets in the shelter, our community, and homes.

You will work with a fantastic staff at PVAS and be hard-pressed to find a more caring and dedicated team.
