Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

    About Us

What is Habitat for Humanity? A nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry, Habitat for Humanity builds simple and affordable homes in partnership with those in need of decent housing.

When people think of Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, they think about building houses. And they should. Because since we began in 1985 we've built or renovated over 400 homes in Metro Louisville and Oldham County. But, while building is what we do, the reason we do it is to change lives. We build homes because they are essential building blocks for families and communities - especially when coupled with strong relationships and healthy neighborhoods.

How does the program work? Habitat builds alongside families who demonstrate the need and willingness to partner with Habitat. Habitat offers a hand up, not a hand out to families who invest 400 "sweat equity" hours building their own and their neighbors' houses. Their monthly mortgage payments help fund the construction of more houses.

All are Welcome Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville has an open-door policy. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and also serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion.
