BBBSHSW enables youth to achieve their highest potential, through professionally supported relationships with caring adults, who serve as role models, mentors and friends. Big Brothers and Big Sisters enrich a child's life while building strong families and communities. Statistically children in match relationships are less likely than their non-matched counterparts to drop out of school turn to alcohol or drugs and become involved in the juvenile justice system. A Big Brother or Big Sister teaches life skills; builds self-esteem; helps improve a youngster's social, academic and interpersonal skills. Volunteers can help children address difficult life choice decisions regarding substance abuse, educational and career goals. All of our matches focus on building a friendship between and a Big and a Little that will be rewarding to the volunteer and have a positive lasting impact on the child.
