Prologue, Inc. is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization. Prologue was formed in 1982 to offer residential support services in Baltimore County to persons with serious and persistent mental illness. In 1989, Springfield Hospital patients who had been hospitalized ten years or more began to transition to community-based services offered by Prologue in Carroll County. Today we continue to offer Residential services, Supported Housing, and Continuum of Care Housing in Baltimore and Carroll Counties. We also offer a Psychiatric Day Program available to Baltimore and Carroll County residents.
In 1987, homeless outreach services began with Prologue case managers reaching out to people in the Baltimore County Detention Center and shelters. Today our Homeless Outreach Services Progam provides outreach services in Baltimore County, operates an Outreach Center in Towson, Outreach Workers and Case Managers are at the shelters, camps, and BWI. In addition, we offer Continuum of Care Housing.
The Wellness and Recovery Drop In Center (Marylog) opened its doors in 1994 on evenings and weekends to offer community peer support to persons recovering from mental illness. We have added to those services and now have The Recovery Community Center is a peer run center that serves individuals with substance use disorders.
Today Prologue continues to focus on providing community based personal recovery for individuals with behavior health/mental illness, and substance abuse disorders. Our mission is to create opportunities for those with behavioral health needs and those experiencing homelessness by promoting positive change and offering person-centered support in recovery.
