About Us

Founded in 1962 by Cesar Chavez, the United Farm Workers of America (UFW) is the nation's most successful and largest farmworkers union, and is currently active in several states, and internationally. The UFW continues to organize in major agricultural industries across the nation and in other countries. Recent years have witnessed dozens of key UFW union contract victories, among them the largest strawberry, rose, winery, and mushroom companies in California and the nation. UFW-sponsored laws have been enacted over the years to support farmworkers, including the first state regulation in the U.S. that regulates heat in the agricultural workplace. The UFW continues to sponsor and advocate for better laws, including federal bipartisan immigration reform bills, and stronger labor and employment law at state levels.
