  • About Us

SWOOP, through its programs, coordinates and provides caring and capable volunteers for large-scale, short-term community service projects that meet otherwise overwhelming needs, in a spirit of cooperation, community, and fun. SWOOP was formed to

    • serve persons facing challenges related to age, health, physical or mental capability, and poverty.
    • better ourselves in body, mind, and spirit, by improving the lives of others.
    • build community by providing experiences conducive to networking and fun.
    • empower women by creating opportunities for leadership and learning.

SWOOP serves the community through two programs: Ramp It Up! and SWOOPin' Saturdays. Through SWOOPin' Saturdays, SWOOP makes it easy for volunteers to have a huge impact in a single day -- bringing 30-70 volunteers to work together on a community service project for an individual, family, neighborhood, or other nonprofit organization. Ramp It Up! provides wheelchair ramps to families that need them most but can least afford them, often serving families that do not qualify for other support services.
