About Us
The Breakthrough Fresh Market (BFM) is a community food pantry and Breakthrough Urban Ministries' food resource program. The vision is to end hunger and break cycles of poverty in East Garfield Park by extending Dignity, Community and Hope.
• Dignity - The Fresh Market will allow patrons to participate in the shopping experience in a dignified way by offering client choice shopping. • Community – The Fresh Market and Ministry Center will encourage the community to build networks, cultivate relationships, and connect with each other. • Hope - The Fresh Market and Ministry Center will connect patrons to services and provide access to other community resources and tools.
When the BFM began, we set a goal of serving 500 families by the end of 2010. Yet, with God’s grace and favor, we have already served over 4000 households. With the help of staff and generosity from donors and volunteers – people such as you – we wish to expand that number even more so that we can continue to realize our vision.
