About Us

Serving Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Iowa, the National Association of Minority Contractors-Upper Midwest (NAMC-UM) is a Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC, spoken “NAY- Mac”), a nonprofit trade association established in 1969 to address the needs and concerns of minority contractors.

NAMC-UM’s membership includes general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, bq. associations, state and local governmental organizations, bankers, attorneys, accountants, and other professionals.

While membership is open to people of all races and ethnic backgrounds, the organization’s mandate, “Building Bridges – Crossing Barriers,” focuses on construction industry concerns common to African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans.

Members actively participate in NAMC’s conferences and retreats. NAMC’s regular monthly meetings provide excellent opportunities for participants to gather relevant, up- to-date information, help shape the direction of the organization, influence the construction community, and network with their industry friends, associates and business acquaintances.
