The mission of Worcester Community Housing Resources, Inc. is to help create and preserve affordable housing and to initiate and support neighborhood revitalization in the greater Worcester area. Since 1993 we have proven to be a successful organization that meets its mission through the development of affordable housing projects, managing affordable housing units and deploying our Community Loan Fund to help meet the financial and housing needs of low and moderate income individuals.
WCHR Securities, Inc. a subsidiary of WCHR, Inc. is a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI) and oversees the Community Loan Fund. This $4.5 million fund is capitalized through investments from individuals, religious, educational and financial institutions, community investment firms and other partners. The Loan Fund provides home improvment loans to low and moderate income people ineligible for traditional financing, to non-profit organizaitonsand private developers to develop affordable housing and loan that assist court-appointed receivers in the rennovation of abandoned and foreclosed properties.
WCHR is a property manager for more than 150 affordable housing units in the Worcester area. The WCHR team manages single room occupancy lodging houses and family apartments. All managed units are for low income renters.
WCHR also plans and develops affordable housing throughout Worcester County. Our most recent project is a 78-unit assisted living facility in Gardner, MA. This is the only facility of its kind in MA that is 100% affordable rentals for seniors in need of the specialized services provided through assisted liiving.
