About Us
Books for Wider Horizons is a collaboration between the Oakland Public Library and Head Start. The program seeks, trains and places volunteer story readers in twenty Oakland Head Start centers. The program's goals are to introduce children to the joys of reading, and to increase reading readiness, library awareness, and the use of the library by Head Start preschoolers and their families.
