About Us

The Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles is deeply rooted in service to the Los Angeles community and has become one of the leading LGBTQ arts organizations in the world. Since 1979, GMCLA has consistently grown, developing educational programs that change the lives of students throughout LA County while offering dozens of performances each year, recording full-length studio recordings, commissioning new works and arrangements (more than 300 in total), and appearing frequently on national television.

The Chorus’ mission is to create musical experiences that strengthen our role as a leader among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and performing arts communities, enrich our member-artists, support LGBTQ youth, challenge homophobia, and expose new communities to our message of equality. Our Alive Music Project (AMP), our work with Arts for Incarcerated Youth Network (AIYN), and our alliance with LAUSD and Partnership for Los Angeles Schools allow us to provide choral music education programming to youth who otherwise, may have no access to any kind of music education or message of anti-bullying.
