About Us

Who We Are

ProduceGood is a nonprofit that engages in community gleaning practices to recover unwanted or wasted produce to serve individuals who are hungry. We were founded in 2014 by three San Diego women looking to make a difference through the power of a community initiative called CropSwap, spearheaded since 2010 by one of our founders. Our mission is to build an informed and engaged community committed to finding sustainable solutions to alleviate hunger, reclaim and repurpose waste and promote the health and well-being of all.

The Need

There are 400,000 children, adults, seniors, homeless, veterans and their families in San Diego County who do not know where their next meal is coming from. On average, 40% of fresh produce is plowed under, rots or goes to waste each year. By harvesting the extra bounty of San Diego County and delivering it to those in need, ProduceGood is solving the problem of hunger and waste in one sweet step.
