Founded in 2017 by a young African intersectional feminist leader, DWoSO Initiative emerged from the collective efforts of young Ghanaian feminists who shared a vision to empower rural women and girls in Ghana. In 2021, we officially registered as a not-for-profit entity, providing structure for our advocacy and expanding our reach.
Our goals are ambitious, with a focus on women and girls' development, including those living with disabilities, HIV/AIDS, and Queer women. We operate projects in five Ghanaian regions: Central, Ashanti, Western, Western North, and Volta. These projects include Consent Matters, Speak Up, Clean Period, Vote4Women, One Skill Reduces Poverty, Women in WASH, and Girl-Mentorship, all working towards creating a more equitable society where women and girls can thrive.
