  • About Us

The Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI) is a study abroad program that provides undergraduates with the knowledge, tools and experiences to confront shared global challenges. Through service-learning in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Nicaragua, or Uganda, teams of students join the efforts of local organizations to advance community-driven change.

GESI is a unique, credit-bearing program that combines rigorous academic training through intensive pre-departure preparation and a final reflection summit with 8-10 weeks of hands-on international fieldwork. While abroad, students live in homestays and gain professional experience through internships with grassroots organizations, addressing issues such as public health, education, women’s empowerment, and the environment. Our nationally recognized program represents one of the most comprehensive approaches for multidisciplinary, integrative, and engaged learning.
