  • Mission

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County's mission is to collect, preserve and share the rich history of Palm Beach County. The Society maintains an active research facility, assisting writers and families by providing documents, photos and artifacts for study. The Society involves itself in advocacy issues, ranging from architectural preservation to educational programs in County schools.

    About Us

The Historical Society of Palm Beach County opened the first county-wide history museum and educational resource center in the restored 1916 Courthouse located in downtown West Palm Beach. This includes the Richard and Pat Johnson History Museum, enabling the Society to weave the county's history into the fabric of daily life.

The Historical Society has partnered with the Palm Beach County School District to create a program about Florida and local history for all public school students in the 4th and 7th grade.

The Museum will inspire groups of all ages by bringing history to life in a relevant, engaging manner. A visit to the Museum will offer residents a sense of place and pride about their community.

The Museum is opened Mondays through Saturdays and is the only such facility that is FREE for everyone.
