    SOS SAHEL was founded in Senegal in 1976 by President Léopold Sédar Senghor following a period of severe drought. SOS SAHEL today takes action across 11 countries in the Sahel region, from Senegal to Djibouti. SOS SAHEL’s mission is to improve food and nutrition security within rural communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

    SOS SAHEL’s approach to food security incorporates all aspects that contribute towards sustainable development in social, economic and environmental terms for the most vulnerable populations in Africa.
