About Us

Marj Kleinman Photography, LLC, is a New York City based photography agency currently producing STOOP STORIES, a documentary storytelling project designed to connect, support, and celebrate our NYC neighbors, especially those hardest hit by the pandemic and systemic inequities. We provide a platform for all New Yorkers to be seen and heard — families, essential workers, small business owners, especially those from underrepresented communities.

The stoops of New York City have always been the place to meet up, catch up, and build community. During lockdown, our stoops became our sanity and our solidarity. We gathered there to bang pots for essential workers, to socialize from a safe distance, to dine al fresco, and to work and learn remotely. Some days, our stoops were our only connection to the outside world.

Since April 2020, we have produced hundreds of authentic stories straight from the stoops of NYC and have been spotlighted by The New York Times, Time Out New York, PIX11 News, and News12 Brooklyn. Our work has been shown at the International Center for Photography, Arts Gowanus ArtWalk, Papergirl BK, We’re Still Here, and Art on the Ave NYC.

STOOP STORIES recently had a solo exhibition at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, with a companion exhibit and live family program at Photoville. We would love for you to be involved.
