About Us

The Sacramento Area Animal Coalition (SAAC) is a nonprofit, charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status.  SAAC is committed to eliminating companion animal overpopulation in the Sacramento area through aggressive spay-neuter efforts, humane education, community outreach and networking. SAAC is entirely volunteer run, and our work is solely supported by donations and grants. With no staff and minimal overhead, more than 99 percent of donations go directly to spay/neuter animals in the Sacramento region.

SAAC operates the following programs:

  • The Voucher Program operates helps pet owners obtain spay/neuter surgeries at participating veterinary clinics for a small co-payment.
  • The Feral Cat Assistance Program issues coupons for low-cost spay/neuter surgeries to people who care for feral cat colonies and community cats.
  • Spay Day is an annual event that provides hundreds of families in need with low-cost spay/neuter surgeries. See photos of Spay Day 2013 in the Sacramento Bee.
