About Us

The Youth AIDS Project (YAP) is a non-profit organisation registered with the South African Department of Social Development and as a Section 21 Company under the Companies Act. It's aim is to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS in young South Africans and provide them with the tools to be compassionate and effective in dealing with HIV/AIDS in their lives and communities. We believe that this goal will be best achieved if young people are informed by others of their age and medical students would be an ideal group to train for the task to teach children in schools. At present YAP is busy completing a pilot research study (STATS Students Teach AIDS To Students) which involves educating several hundred first year students at the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch.
