About Us
Elisa Monte Dance was founded in 1981 based on the belief that cultural barriers can be crossed by utilizing the common language of dance. Its mission is to inspire and empower people through the art of dance. Specifically, the company: - Facilitates the creation and worldwide performance of the choreography of Artistic Director and founder Elisa Monte, as well as that of former co-artistic director David Brown. - Trains and maintains a select group of professional dancers, of multi-ethnic, multi-cultural origins, capable of meeting the artistic and physical demands of the choreographers’ work - Commissions work from emerging and distinguished artists in other disciplines for collaborative projects. - Educates individuals of all ages in the art of movement and audiences in the experience of live dance performance.
