The Movement For Black Lives (M4BL) Policy Table is dedicated to supporting the development and implementation of visionary and uncompromising local, national, and international policy objectives aimed at addressing the various ways Black people are harmed while also lifting up a vision that speaks to the desires and needs of our people. Specifically the Table does the following:
- Create Black centered, community grounded spaces where folks can collectively build power and strategy around policy interventions and demand articulations.
- Coordinating, supporting, and elevating local policies that divest in policing, invests in strong communities, ensure community control, create pathways for alternatives, demand an end to the ongoing war inflicted on our communities, demand economic justice, political power and reparations.
- Work to change the national narrative around policing and incarceration, serving as a hub for innovative and visionary thinking inspired by the need to challenge existing federal policy, laws and regulations, struggle to find alignment with regards to national demands, and collaborate on the development of transformative national policies
