  • Mission

Since its founding in 1981, Hudsonia has been advancing the study and protection of flora and fauna, habitats, and ecological landscapes in the Hudson Valley, Catskills and greater New York City Metropolitan region through science, education, and technical assistance.

    About Us

Hudsonia, Ltd. is an independent nonprofit institute for environmental research and education based in the Hudson Valley in New York. For more than four decades, we have provided sound science that underpins biodiversity conservation and responsible land use in the Hudson River Estuary and throughout the greater New York Metropolitan Region. Our small team of field biologists, GIS mapping specialists, conservation planners and educators conduct studies of plants, animals and habitats, produce mapping, planning materials, and technical guidance for effective conservation, and train local officials, land trusts, and landowners in habitat protection and management.

Hudsonia’s work directly serves municipalities, conservation organizations, and regional agencies that depend on credible, place-based science to inform their decisions. Our publications, maps, and workshops also benefit the wider public by supporting policies and practices that protect natural habitats, water quality, and biodiversity in a changing landscape and climate.
