  • Mission

The mission of the DuPage County ACT-SO youth mentoring program is to nurture excellence and provide positive reinforcement for high school students.

    About Us

The ACT-SO program is intended to be a learning experience, first and foremost. For over 40 years, the focus of the DuPage County ACT-SO program has been to provide growth fostering enrichment and mentorship opportunities for students in Business, Humanities, the Arts and STEM.

Students participate in monthly enrichment sessions, workshops, events, and field trips. Professional mentors help students to develop their projects for our local competition. The local competition serves to showcase the hard work students have invested in their projects during the 7-month of our program year. Participating students are eligible to receive medals and prizes at our local competition. Local gold medalists advance to the National ACT-SO competition to vie for scholarships and other rewards provided by sponsors.

The benefits students receive from the enrichment and mentorship components of ACT-SO include substantial assistance toward the development of their ACT-SO projects and valuable tools to assist them throughout their education. Students emerge better equipped for success in high school and post-secondary education. Our aim is to develop the whole child, and key skills essential for our students to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and workforce leaders.
