Mayor Ed Lee Campaign
About Us
The Mayor Ed Lee Campaign is dedicated to electing Mayor Ed Lee to a full time term as Mayor of San Francisco!
Ed Lee has served the people of San Francisco for 22 years in five different City Departments under four mayors. In 1989, Lee was named Investigator for the City’s first Whistle Blower’s Ordinance, where he worked to hold City government accountable and transparent to the taxpayers. In 1991, he became the City’s Human Rights Commission Director, working to expand economic opportunities to local small businesses and minority contractors. In 1996, he was appointed City Purchaser and in 2000, he was named Director of the City’s Department of Public Works. In 2005, former Mayor Gavin Newsom appointed Ed Lee City Administrator, where he spearheaded reforms that reduced the size and cost of City Government and developed the City’s first-ever Ten Year Capital Plan to ensure needed infrastructure investments are funded. He was reappointed City Administrator in 2010 with the unanimous support of the Board of Supervisors.
In January 2011, Ed Lee was appointed interim Mayor to complete the term of former Mayor and current Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom. As Mayor, Ed Lee has changed the tone at City Hall and brought people together to get things done for San Francisco. He’s made attracting and creating good jobs, keeping our streets safe and investing in our infrastructure his top priorities. He worked together with the Board of Supervisors to close a $380 million budget deficit and brought business and labor together to control public employee pension costs and protect the vital city services San Franciscans depend on every day. Mayor Lee will make sure San Francisco remains a hub for innovation in the dynamic global economy to create jobs for San Franciscans in every neighborhood.
