Angles - for sexual health, identity, and education
Angles empowers young people to make informed decisions about their health, well-being, and sexuality. We provide shame-free, medically accurate, interactive sexuality education in schools and community organizations as well as LGBTQ+ youth programming, including leadership development, and social and support opportunities.
The Health Education Program provides workshops covering a variety of sexuality education topics, including sexual health, healthy relationships, and LGBTQ+ identities. Facilitated by professional staff and trained volunteers, workshops provide dynamic, interactive age-appropriate learning for grades 5-12, promoting lively, thought-provoking discussion and opportunities for skills practice. Angles staff also provide workshops for adults, including parents offering best practices for supporting youth development.
The Pride Youth Program serves youth in grades 6-12 who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and/or queer/questioning their sexual or gender identity (LGBTQ+). Year-round programming includes prideLEAD, prideSUPPORT, and prideSOCIAL. prideSOCIAL includes regular social and recreational drop-ins as well as one-time events that focus on building relationships and community amongst LGBTQ+ suburban youth. prideSUPPORT offers support groups on an ongoing basis, including a gender identity group for grades 9-12 and an LGBTQ+ group for grades 6-8. prideLEAD is an academic-year youth leadership program for high school students interested in planning social and service events and working to create more inclusive suburban communities.
While we do not have any geographic limitations regarding who we serve, most youth we serve live in the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago.
