WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF CHILD ADVOCATE PROGRAMS

  • Mission

The mission of Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs is to develop the capacity of local child advocate/GAL programs to advocate for abused and neglected children through training, networking and technical assistance.

    About Us

We want to ensure that children in foster care who are appointed one of our Child Advocates are:

    • Reunified with their parents when safe and as quickly as possible
    • Placed with a family member (or non-stranger) when possible
    • Have an advocate who is constantly and actively engaged in advocating for the child’s best interests from the start of the advocate’s involvement until the child achieves permanence.

Our organization has been successfully working with all 35 of our local programs (also known locally as "CASA", "Child Advocates" or "Guardians ad Litem" depending on local factors and naming conventions) in Washington since 1993.
