Covenant House New York Mentor Program

About Us

Covenant House New York Rights of Passage (R.O.P) is an independent, long term, transitional living program, that is designed to provide young people (between ages 18 and 21) with the opportunity to change their lives as they become more confident about themselves. R.O.P prepares young people for independent and productive lives and this entails teaching them technical skills through various training programs, improving their vocational performance and enabling them to become committed, dependable as well as motivate them to pursue their individual goals and take control of their futures. Beyond independent living skills, our residents are often lacking a supportive one-on-one relationship with an adult they can trust and look up to. The Mentor Program provides Mentors who are non-judgmental towards our youth, with the intention of them sharing their life’s experiences and inspiring our youth to become active in their own life’s successes. The mentoring relationship is an extremely important part of the program and can make an enormous impact on the lives of these young adults.
