  • About Us

Historic Atlanta is a nonprofit that advances social justice and community by saving historic places.

Historic Atlanta’s Special Committee on Black Heritage is focusing on creative efforts to spotlight and save historic places in the city’s black community, including lesser known civil rights sites. Our LGBTQ+ Historic Preservation Advisory Committee is working with the City of Atlanta and community partners to erect historic markers and create the first LGBTQ+ Historic Context Study in the Deep South, which will be a crucial tool for identifying and saving historic places within the community. We are also in the process of forming initiatives to focus on Asian, Latinx, and immigrant history in Atlanta. In addition to these program notes, our current watchlist of historic places can be found on our website.
