Teen HYPE helps more young people successfully transition into adulthood by getting kids READY to lead, READY to live healthy lives and READY for the next stage. Our programs build the next generation of leaders and get them READY for the world

READY TO LEAD

Youth are equipped with invaluable 21st century skills that will allow them to develop themselves and the world through service. Using a researched based curriculum, youth participate in 100 hours experiential learning activities that are focused on leadership, life skills, and service to make a difference in their communities. Youth explore critical topics such as: food policies, health equity, legal systems, diversity and Inclusion. Students combine their newly acquired knowledge and leadership skills to serves a role model and resource for their peers.

READY TO LIVE HEALTHY LIVES

By working together with community partners, schools and other non traditional stakeholders HYPE is succeeding at improving the health of Detroit area teens and young adults. Through our HIV counseling and testing program we are able to identify and assist youth at heighten risk. HYPE also implements an evidenced based adolescent sexual health program in Detroit high schools. Our strong integration of supportive mental health and a partnership for medical care enables our staff to effectively address barriers for success that are common to teens.

READY FOR THE NEXT STAGE

We use theater as a gateway to reach, educate and unlock the creative power of youth. Teens create original theatrical productions to raise their peers’ collective consciousness and inspire them to choose healthy lifestyles. While the topics change year-to-year, the root of the performance always lies in activating issues of social justice that are relevant to teens.

HYPE exposes youth to a world beyond their neighborhood and classroom.  We provide unforgettable experiences to underserved youth, exposing them to a variety of careers.  We also provide job readiness, college access education, educational and career goal setting to support their professional development. Our unique experiences are pivotal in their individual journeys of becoming tomorrow’s leaders, business owners, and innovators.
