FOCUS ON THE MASTERS

  • Mission

Bringing the humanity behind the art to life … Together, we will capture history. Focus on the Masters (FOTM) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), art appreciation program that documents, preserves and presents the works and lives of accomplished contemporary artists. We emphasize the importance of the arts to a healthy society. Our archive includes oral histories, video taped interviews, photographic portraits and examples of the artists’ work.

    About Us

FOTM has been serving the community for twenty-five years through our programs that are the heart of our mission, including:

Archive & Library - Contains more than 2,600 local artists, galleries and other art-related entities. ALL FOTM’s PROGRAMS originate from the archives.

Learning to See (LTS) Outreach - compelling lessons inspired by the life and work of our Documented Artists to over 250,000 students throughout Ventura County to date. LTS serves students in school and community centers, k-8, and adults with mental illness in partnership with the Turning Point Foundation’s Quality of Life Program.

Artist Spotlight - Monthly meet-the-artist live interviews at the Museum of Ventura County. To date 246 artists have been comprehensively documented.
