About Us

The Atomic Testing Museum is a science, history and educational institution that tells the story of America’s nuclear testing program. The Museum uses lessons of the past and present to better understand the extent and effect of global nuclear deterrence, geo-political history and the nuclear legacy. It provides collection-based exhibits and learning activities for greater public understanding and appreciation of the world in which we live. Its collections and activities are inseparably linked to serve a diverse public of varied ages, backgrounds and knowledge.

The vision of the Atomic Testing Museum is to serve as a national forum for understanding the nuclear legacy and its impact on future generations. The museum is the keeper of the stories of the Atomic Age and a platform for interpreting emerging nuclear technologies. It strives to inspire, enlighten, educate and entertain audiences of all ages through the application of museum best practices and accepted American Association of Museum standards.
