The Evoluer House
The Evoluer House is a dynamic and innovative non-profit organization that empowers disadvantaged girls by nurturing positive self-expression and personal development. The target population is girls between the ages of 13 and 18 in Philadelphia, who are experiencing a unique set of social and emotional challenges and barriers. Our curriculums are designed to promote emotional, mental, and social well-being and to provide girls the tools they will need to make positive choices over an eight-week program. Evoluer House provides a safe community for girls to share experiences and learn both from and alongside one another.
We opened our doors to Philadelphia teens and began our mission in 2004. Since our inception, we have grown tremendously and, to date, over 900 girls have graduated from our programs – the Evoluer Personal Development Workshop and Workforce Development Program – which offers a positive, reality-based learning experience for girls and promotes self-image, ambition, and true personal development. Our program challenges girls to think bigger, dream higher, love the skin they are in, and be the best they can be.

That’s no small feat, given that The Evoluer House girl is typically one who lives at or below the federal poverty level and often in environments scarred by violence, abuse, addiction, unemployment and illness, and would likely be the first in her family to attend college.
But with a mission of creating bright futures for at-risk and disadvantaged teen girls from communities where the odds for success are against them, The Evoluer House is grooming its students to believe the world is theirs to win.
We have successfully partnered with the Philadelphia Department of Recreation to operate our personal development program at 15 recreational facilities. In March 2008, Evoluer House launched EvoluerGirl BlogSpot and invited teen girls to join. The response was truly incredible. Over 4000 girls from around the globe subscribed to the motivational network where they can find college scholarship information, enrichment workshops alerts, post and send text messages, and more. In April of 2010, we partnered with The School District of Philadelphia to conduct our personal development program at Warren G. Harding Middle School. Today, our empowerment programs take place at inspiring locations throughout Philadelphia including Peirce College and La Salle University.
