The Children's Museum, Seattle
Our Mission and Vision:
The Children's Museum, Seattle is a 22,000 sq foot facility dedicated to bringing to life the joy of discovery for children and their families through fun, creative, hands-on exploration of the world around them. We do this by providing creative programming, interactive exhibits and a staff dedicated to engage and supporting caregivers and their children while they are in the Museum.
Seattle Children's Museum is located at the heart of the Seattle Center on the ground floor of the Armory. This location provides the Museum many opportunities to partner with other organizations around campus including the many walks/runs that happen on campus, cultural festivals and more.
Exhibits, Activities, Camps and Programs:
The Museum has a number of permanent and rotating exhibits through its 22,000 sq feet of space (that's larger than 4 NBA basketball courts). The exhibits include "The Neighborhood" which has a grocery store, construction zone, theater, fire truck, bus, post office and restaurant. "Global Village" takes children on an adventure around the world visiting other countries and exploring cultural traditions. Families can visit the Imagination Studio where a clay station and painting station bring out the artist in everyone and a monthly craft project provides an ever changing design opportunity.
Each day the Museum offers 5 - 7 programs that are designed for a specific age range from birth to 10 years old, along with the child's caregiver. These programs range from a storytime, to a messy art project, to a scavenger hunt to a hula hoop dance party.
The Museum also offers summer camps available for caregivers to customize to the needs of their family. Half Day and Full Day camps running from Memorial Day to Labor Day allow families to select the best camp adventure for their child.
