About Us

The Volunteers to Save Soquel Creek (VSSC) enhance and restore critical habitat along Soquel Creek in Capitola, CA.

Volunteers to Save Soquel Creek (VSSC) is a joint project of the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz County and George McMenamin Consulting. Volunteer events are co-sponsored by AmeriCorps and the Watershed Stewards Project. In 2010 George McMenamin and the Resource Conservation District of Santa Cruz created a volunteer organization to provide on the ground, hands on support for habitat recovery, along Soquel Creek. Since then the Volunteers to Save Soquel Creek have removed periwinkle, cape ivy and common bur clover to help the native habitat.

Monthly events are open to all ages and all levels of experience, you just need an interest in helping your local environment.
