Esperanza’s Sanctuary is a nonprofit farm and community hub dedicated to healing people, animals, and the planet through compassionate care, education, and sustainable practices. We provide rescue and lifelong refuge for animals, teach food sovereignty and regenerative agriculture, and create inclusive programs that support wellness, skill-building, and community resilience especially for underserved and marginalized populations.

Esperanza’s Sanctuary is more than a farm, it’s a safe haven for people, animals, and the earth. Nestled in the desert of Sky Valley, California, we blend animal rescue, food justice, ecological restoration, and inclusive community care into one powerful mission.
We rescue farm animals from neglect, cruelty, and abandonment, giving them lifelong sanctuary and the dignity of safety, companionship, and love. Many of our residents, goats, pigs, horses, chickens, sheep, and more, play a role in healing and education by participating in humane learning programs, workshops, and farm visits.
We also grow food for people in need and teach regenerative practices like composting, vermiculture, seed-saving, and desert permaculture. Our food pantry and produce giveaways support local families, while our hands-on workshops provide job training, confidence, and community connection.
We center marginalized voices, including unhoused neighbors, people with disabilities, survivors of trauma, PGM and LGBTQIA+ individuals, and low-income families. Our programs are bilingual, low-barrier, and deeply rooted in care, equity, and solidarity.
At Esperanza’s, we believe healing is collective, food is a right, animals are family, and community grows stronger when we work side by side. Volunteers are the heart of our work, and we welcome you to join us.
