About Us
WJI empowers rural, indigenous girls and women to address gender inequality and improve their lives through access to legal services, women’s rights education, leadership development, and gender-based violence prevention programs.
We work in 24 rural communities in Patzún, Chimaltenango where Maya women face extreme poverty, high rates of gender inequality and gender-based violence, and lack access to resources. Our four programs (Women's Rights Education, Community Advocates, Legal Services, and Adolescent Girls) build their knowledge and skills so they can assert their rights and access justice to achieve better futures.
