  • About Us

Nestled in 1,000 acres of rolling hills in Dutchess County, New York, Wethersfield Estate & Garden is generally understood to be the finest example of an Italian Renaissance Garden in the United States. Founded in 1938, Wethersfield is a non-profit organization devoted to the proper stewardship of land, habitat protection, conservation, culture, and the arts. The formal garden is a destination spot for gardeners, as well as seekers of truth and beauty. The grounds consist of 20 miles of trails for equestrian activities, hiking, and cross-country skiing. Wethersfield Estate and Garden was recognized in 2020 for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places for significance in conservation, landscape architecture, architecture, arts and culture, and recreation.
