  • Mission

    The Area Agency on Aging is dedicated to helping older persons remain independent through the funding of low cost services such as senior dining, home delivered meals, chore services, caregiver volunteers, senior advocates and transportation. Nearly 120,000 callers on our Senior LinkAge Line received information about program options, assistance with Medicare and insurance claims, and help with program applications.

    About Us

    Southeastern Minnesota Area on Aging strives to promote independence and dignity of older people in the region by coordinating, funding and developing programs and services. We link people with information, advocate for the needs of older people, build community capacity through development, partnerships, grants and contracts, and promote prudent stewardship of the federal, state and local resources we receive.

    Southeastern Minnesota Area on Aging, Inc. is the designated area agency on aging for the 11-county region of Southeastern Minnesota, and was established in 1976 by the Minnesota Board on Aging. We receive Older American Act funds and state funds that are awarded to local service providers for community based programs for older people. It is a 501-C3 non-profit.

    Service area includes the counties of Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona . It is also known as the Region 10 Planning and service area. The office is located in Rochester.
