The Baobab Home
Welcome to The Baobab Home, located on 12 breezy acres outside of Bagamoyo, Tanzania. Founded in 2004, The Baobab Home's mission is to foster a nurturing environment for children and their families to thrive. We accomplish this through a range of projects, including a home for orphaned and vulnerable children, an HIV+ support group, the English-medium primary school Steven Tito Academy, and general outreach work in the community.
We are a lively, international group of staff and volunteers working and learning together. As a solar-powered and biogas-fueled operation, our farm is low-impact, off-grid and committed to self-sufficient living. Above all, our approach is holistic, taking into account the various social, economic and psychological aspects of poverty, in order to come up with sustainable solutions for the future of Tanzania.
