Philly Food Rescue at Share Food Program

Philadelphia, PA

  • About Us

Philly Food Rescue is the sustainability, food recovery, and donations arm of Share Food Program, Greater Philadelphia's leading hunger relief organization. Centering food sovereignty and community care, Philly Food Rescue works to increase access to fresh food for our neighbors. Our team recovers one half million pounds of fresh food every month thanks to volunteers like you, whose service keeps wholesome food within our communities and out of the waste stream. Together we resource 300+ partners across Philadelphia, its suburbs, and South Jersey, impacting food security and sustainability every day of the week.

Volunteers use their own car (or bike) to rescue surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, farmers markets, or the Share warehouse, delivering it to a matched nonprofit, including senior centers, shelters, places of worship, schools, community fridges, clinics, affordable housing communities, and more. It takes an hour or less to make a tangible impact on local food security and sustainablility, near where you live or work!

Download the Philly Food Rescue app in Google Play or the App Store, create a volunteer profile, and turn on notifications. We're seeking volunteer drivers for these local food rescues. Join us!
