The Austin Furniture Bank uplifts people and transforms homes by providing basic furnishings to families who have none. Rescue Furniture > Transform Homes > Uplift People

Our Vision: We envision a Central Texas where no good furniture goes to waste and no one goes without the furniture and household necessities required to transform their dwelling into a home.

Since October 2015, over 280 clients served. Each client received an average of 4 pieces of furniture, so that’s:

• about 1,200 pieces of furniture saved, (50 pieces per month) plus
• about 80 kitchens’ worth of pots, pans, plates, glasses, and silverware and
• about 200 good, usable mattresses saved from landfill

Estimating each delivery at about 500 pounds, that’s roughly 140,000 pounds of furniture, or 70 tons of good, usable furniture diverted from becoming landfill. (That’s almost 3 tons per month!) • Deliveries: We’ve been operating since October of 2015. We’ve been delivering on 70% of the weekends from then to now, and there are 104 weekends, that’s 73 weekends. Each delivery weekend takes 8 hours and 3 people, that’s 1,752 volunteer hours for deliveries
