Intercultural Dimensions, Inc.-Crossing Cultures Senegal- is a non-profit educational organization (501(C)(3)) that since 1994 provides programs of cross-cultural awareness through travel, community service, cultural exchange, workshops, and seminars to Americans and people of other countries. Its Crossing Cultures program to Senegal, West Africa is an educational 17 day cultural immersion and travel program that takes place each summer and in January. A volunteer work and field study component is included with an option to extend one's stay. The program is custom-tailored to individual interests. Participants visit different parts of the country and community projects, NGOs, schools, stay with Senegalese families or in guest houses, use public transportation, and experience village life. We speak with Senegalese doctors, politicians, teachers and other interests participants have. The travel group is no more than 8 people. The fee is at cost and the leaders are not compensated and pay for their own program fee and airfare.
