About Us
The Catholic Charities Volunteer Service Corps is the name of the volunteer group that services the numerous programs under The Diocese of Providence Office of Community Services & Catholic Charities. This office develops, implements, and supports ministries and services that reach thousands of Rhode Islanders each year. Our mission is rooted in the social teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, and focuses on the dignity of each human being, serving others and dispensing charity, while educating and advocating for justice. Our office and Volunteer Service Corps provide support to 150 parishes in RI by helping parishioners meet their basic and social service needs.
This office provides resources to communities in the areas of family, immigration services, emergency assistance, substance abuse recovery, elderly care, and so much more. Some of the programs our Volunteer Service Corps serve include:
- Neighborhood Friendly Visitor Program
- ESL and Citizenship Prep Classes
- St. Matthias Recovery Program
- Financial Literacy Classes
- SHIP / Senior Health Insurance Program
- Project Hope (Satellite Office in Pawtucket, RI)
- Woonsocket (Satellite Office)
- St. Martin dePorres Multi-Service Center
