About Us

We are a small history museum that focuses on The Battle of Plymouth during the Civil War. We are open Tuesday thru Saturday 9-4 and for special events. You will gain very useful knowledge in the Museum Industry. We would prefer someone currently still in school and willing to come to the museum at least one day a week, we would prefer more. 


The start date is not set in stone and can be moved forward however, we would prefer not to move it back . We would want you to stay at least a semester but would love if you wanted to stay longer. We would love to be the place you get your start in the field.


This position would involve helping the Director of the Museum with what is needed while you are there. 


This will include helping with events we run during the year. 

Learning Past Perfect and cataloging of Collections. 

Learning Preservation Techniques used in museums. 

Gain more knowledge of the Civil War and History of the area. 

Will learn parts of writing grants at the City, County, State, and Federal Level. 

And Other Duties that will be requested of you. 


Must be working on a degree preferably in History or Museum Studies, or recently graduated. 

Must have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

Must have a positive attitude and be willing to learn. 

Knowledge of the Civil War and North Carolina History would be greatly helpful.
