About Us

Miryante Orphans Home is a located in Ft. Portal Diocese in Western Uganda. It is funded and run through the Ft. Portal Diocese, Wekomiire Parish under the direction of Fr. Aloysious Maniragaba. It was reopened in 2008 and currently is home to 95 children from the Fr. Portal Diocese who have lost both their mother and father as a result of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, disease, or conflict in the region. Miryante Vocational School was opened in 2013 and provides vocational classes for the orphans that reside at the home and youth from the community.

Mission Statement: To meet the basic needs of food, water, shelter, clothing, education, and to create an environment that allows for spiritual growth for total orphans who reside in the Ft. Portal Diocese.

Vision: A self-sustainable home that meets the basic needs of total orphans in the Ft. Portal Diocese.

Miryante strives to create a healthy and safe living environment for the children that reside there. Children live in housing units of 15 children per dormitory where they live, work, and play as a family each day. The caretaker to child ratio is ten to one. Each child is provided housing, three meals a day, school fees, complete health care, and psychosocial support from a staff of trained management and caretakers.
