About Us

SEIU Local 73 represents more than 29,000 workers, primarily in public service and publicly funded positions in school districts, municipalities, social service agencies, and many other job classifications in Illinois and Indiana. Our members keep our buildings and communities safe and clean and our families healthy, they care for our children and our elderly, and keep our cities and states running.

We stand up for justice and civil rights for all – for immigrants, for women, for LGBT workers, for people of color, for all workers – because we know that’s the only way we can move our country forward.

SEIU Local 73 is one of more than 150 local unions affiliated that make up the Service Employees International Union built by 2 million workers across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico who work in three key service industries: healthcare, public services, and property services. Local 73 is a chartered branch that carries forth the mission and goals of the International Union while representing the specific interests of its locally based membership.
