Fernbrook Farms Environmental Education Center
Fernbrook Environmental Education Center (FFEEC) is a non-profit organization located in Chesterfield, NJ. We are situated on a 230-acre preserved farm owned by third generation owner, Lawrence Q. Kuser, who has a strong passion for sustainability and education. The FFEEC mission is to provide a place for hands-on, experiential education about food, agriculture and the environment for people of all ages by exploring the complex interconnectedness of our natural world.
At Fernbrook, we run field trips, classes for homeschool students, summer camps, pre-school, and public/family programs. While on the farm, students can explore the meadow, pond, creek, garden, and animal barn. Children learn and have fun while feeding our friendly goats, finding eggs in the chicken coop, picking fresh veggies in our garden, finding insects in the meadow, searching for frogs in the pond, and much more. Our experienced educators lead visiting students and campers in small groups on exciting, hands-on excursions through the natural world.
We believe that exposing children to nature, agriculture, and the sources of their food helps foster a sense of compassion for their planet and for each other. We are always looking for opportunities to share the outdoors with as many children as possible, including students from nearby Trenton, NJ. Our Urban Initiatives include working with Trenton Public Schools during the school year and various nonprofit groups in the city of Trenton during the summer.
